The 2025/6 NFL season thread (with predictions)

Why the Bills? well they have the 5th easiest strength of schedule in the league this season (Niners have the 1st), the Bills toughest opponents (Ravens, Eagles, Chiefs and Bengals) they all play them at home, they then go on the road to face at least 5/6 teams who finished with a sub .500 winning % last season.

2025 NFL MVP
Josh Allen (runner up, back to back MVP)
Patrick Mahomes (runner up)

2025 NFL Defensive Player of the Year
Will Anderson jr (Texans)
Jared Verse (runner up)

2025 Offensive Player of the Year
Ja'marr Chase (Bengals)
Bijan Robinson (Runner up)

2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year
Omarion Hampton (Chargers)
Matthew Golden (Packers, runner up)

2025 Defensive Rookie of the year
Abdul Carter (Giants)
Mykel Williams (runner up)

2025 Comeback Player of the year
Aidan Hutchinson (Lions)
Christian McCaffrey (runner up)

2025 Coach of the year
Liam Cohen (Jaguars)
Dan Quinn (runner up, who probably should have gotten it last yr)

1st coach fired
Shane Steichen (Colts, feels like a given with 'new' ownership who want to bring in a new vision for the team)

I've had a go myself, just divisional positionings and who makes the playoffs.

Not massively different, but I see the Bengals going in, not the Jags. AFC South could kinda go anyway though tbh. I'm also gonna call the Packers to take the NFC North.

Yeah I did my predictions before the Micah Parsons trade so can easily see the Packers wining, my only hold up with putting them at the top is I need to see some consistency from Love, I think your AFC picks will be a lot closer to how it plays out irl, I just struggled to put the Bengals in the wildcard with their defense (they changed defense coordinators and bought in one from college so I think there will be an adjustment period for them in the beginning)

Well that loss sucked, but tbh I don't feel nearly as bad about that loss than I thought I would. That game showed us all why the voters gave Josh Allen the MVP last season over Lamar, and why they are my pick to make the SB.

other week 1 thoughts

Dolphins
: I think it's time to move on from Mike Macdaniel, they just look like a team who wants the season to be over already.
Lions: regression hit them harder than I expected (losing both offensive and defensive coordinators to HC jobs, center retiring, losing their guard), too early to say but the sad reality is they might have already missed their best shot at making the Super Bowl the previous two seasons
Seahawks: Did they really expect the offense to be the same or better under Sam Darnold
Chargers: They looked good? has Gregg Roman finally figured out that the only way to beat the Chiefs is to throw on them? Herbert looked like a top 5 QB
Patriots: Mike Vrabel got out coached by a 73yr old (6-19 in his last 25 games as an NFL head coach).
Jets: That was the best they have looked on offense in a long time and they still lost
Commanders: Defense looks improved (49% pressure rate)
Niners: This might be the most cursed team with all its injuries , every time I looked at the screen I swear there was a niner down getting checked on my the medical staff
Packers: I cannot believe they got Parsons, was all over the backfield yesterday and he still is learning the playbook.

I think Herbert is a Top 5 QB. I feel bad for downgrading them in my predictions above now. If you want pure passer, I would probably take Herbert over any other QB.

I felt bad for Fields losing, as what I saw on RedZone, he looked great.

I mainly watched the Commanders and honestly, the score should have been more impressive than it was. Our D looked amazing (although, it was only the Giants) and our O Line generally controlled one of the best D Lines in the NFL.

I just watched highlights of last night, both QB's looked pretty good tbh. I still think Williams can physically do things most other QB's simply can't do. I guess it's the other things he needs to work on.

Ive a sinking feeling about the pats...changed 50% of roster, new coaches and yet it kinda felt like nothing had changed.from last few seasons. It looks like Drake maye is not responding well to being coached up...balls going high...looks jittery

I saw a horrible bryce young play so carolina fans will feel the same.

Agree about caleb Williams...bears can win 8 games this year if he sticks with it

While I do understand why the Pats went with Vrabel as HC (experience, history) I don't think it was the best option, they should have gone out and gotten a HC with an offensive background (def not Josh McDaniels) but they should have followed what the Bengals, Bears,Vikings did by bringing in a HC who has an idea how to get the most out of his yr2 QB

I thought both Caleb Williams and JJ McCarthy played well, but came away more impressed with JJ after the game due to his ability to bounce back from that horrendous 1st half.

Also Vikings Kevin O'Connell might be a top 7/5 HC in the league ?

Yeah, I only saw highlights, but I read a Bears fan commenting on how bad some of Caleb's throws were (which wouldn't make the highlights of course)

Yeah some of the throws were rough, there is a 'article' (or rather hit piece)that came out a few days ago that mentioned how Caleb Williams was diagnosed with dyslexia and Ryan Poles the Bears GM kept it hidden from his former coaching staff on the offensive side during the draft proccess which they were not too happy about.

https://www.golongtd.com/p/house-of-dys ... he-curious

While insightful it feels like it's in 'retaliation from the quotes that Caleb William and his dad put out about how the former coaching staff failed him
